You as the author own the intellectual copyright to your story, meaning you are free to share it on blogs, podcasts, or even expand upon to write your own book one day, even if it's with a different publisher! It;s your story, your life and your experience - you own it! The Great Canadian Woman™ owns the copyright to the physical book, and this is to ensure that the book and the authors within it are legally protected against plagiarism or other copyright issues to ensure the book or the authors within it are never at risk.

No, of course not! Although we provide solo publication packages for our authors should they wish to write their own book at a later date, you are under no obligation whatsoever to publish with us! In fact, we encourage our authors to shop for publishers to ensure the services they end up investing in are actually suited to their specific needs.

Yes, although we are incredibly honest and upfront in saying that royalties are not lucrative in collaborative books, nor should they be a factor in your decision. We offer 3-4% royalties per author on net book sales through Amazon and Chapters. Once they have taken their cut, the rest is divided accordingly between The Great Canadian Woman™ publishing house, the lead author of the book, and the co-authors. We’re talking cents on the dollar once it is all said and done. This is why we focus so heavily on supporting our authors through a powerful pre sale campaign to drive private sales. You sure do. While it can be exciting to see our books climb the ranks in Amazon, it is incredibly short-lived (again, we are being super transparent here) and our authors receive only cents for each book sold. This is why we focus on supporting our authors so heavily to prepare them for driving their private book sales by providing intensive marketing & public relations training which more than the whole publishing package on their own! If you sell a book, you will earn $22.95 gross profit. Our books at cost can range anywhere between $7 and $10 per copy depending on the word count, so you keep the profit of anywhere between $12.95 per book sold to $15.95 per book sold. Our last book in series sold over 1400 copies between 16 authors who campaigned during presale. This brought in over $30,000 in sales which was over $20,000 in PROFIT for our authors. This is why we do what we do, the way we do it!

Yes. We offer 4 different payment plan options. Our one time pay in full option and 3 month payment plan are free of any additional service charges. Our 6 month payment plan has a $300 fee embedded across the monthly payments. Our 12 month payment plan has a $500 fee embedded across the monthly payments.

We completely understand the apprehension here. It's important to remember that your story is your story. Your truth is your truth. Your experience is your experience. It's yours to share. We also support you in writing in such a way that does just that - keeps your story true to you. It can be easy to drift off into sharing what another person did or who's to blame, and it's our job to ensure we keep you in the driver's seat, the empowered womxn behind the story.

Valid concern! To start, The Great Canadian WomanTM, especially since our massive rebranding in 2020 is incredibly vocal in what we stand for (and against). This. makes it pretty clear to those who don't wish to grow and work towards a more equal world where the door is. On top of this, if we sense through conversation with a potential author that there may be hidden agendas or issues of racism, bullying, homophobia or anything else that goes against the equality of people, we don't sign them on. Period.

If it's any consolation, most people don't have marketing skills! While we support our authors with a 90-minute Marketing masterclass, Social Media recommendations and a full blown Public Relations Workshop custom made by a Toronto PR firm, we do not mandate that authors need to sell a minimum number of books. However, we provide our authors with everything they need in order to be successful in their marketing, PR and sales to give every author equal opportunity to get their stories into as many hands and hearts as possible so we can collectively make a greater impact!

Good news, you're in good company! Our lives are complex so it's totally understandable that you may be feeling a little overwhelmed with all the things you could share. We focus heavily on our author's clarity during the brainstorming phase of the writing journey in order to eliminate the overwhelm and feel both clear and confident in their choice of story and direction.
